Provider Almanac Currently Available!
Provider Almanac is currently available with new information. Medicare Cost Reports
have been updated for CMS data released through December, 2008. CMS has received and processed
over 95
percent of 2007 Hospital cost reports with year ends in 2007. CMS has processed 1824 Hospital cost reports for 2008.
POS information has been updated through December 2008. Inpatient
MEDPAR statistics have been updated through 2006. The new Summary Reports and technical
improvements have been added to Provider Almanac. A new Comparison Cost Report has been added
to the software to show five years of comparative financial history.
This upgrade was released on March 31, 2009.
Coming in the next release!
The next data release will be available after September 30, 2009 with 90% of cost
reports through
December, 2008. NPI information will be added to replace the
UPIN information. POS Information will be updated through July 2009.
Technical improvements will be
included.

Population Almanac in Development
Population Almanac is currently in development. This Almanac will contain census, household, current population and Medicare enrollment. American Community
Survey, postal delivery statistics,
building permits and school enrollment information
will be included in a future release. There will be summary
census information by geography for the 1980, 1990 and 2000 census. There
will be current population for the last five years. There will be summary Medicare enrollment for the last year by
county.
There may be information from the American Community Survey. ACS is the replacement
for the census long form. There may be summary
information for postal delivery households and business by zipcode. There will be building
permit information by county for new houses in a future release.
There will be school enrollment
by school for all public schools in a future release.
The combination of
this information can
be used to project population growth and the affects of population
migration. The population counts will be
used to calculate medical resource utilization rates for Healthcare Almanac.
This product should be completed by December, 2009.
