Provider Almanac is currently available with new information. Cost Reports have been updated for CMS data released through December, 2007. CMS has received and processed over 70 percent of 2007 cost reports. Inpatient MEDPAR statistics have been updated through 2006. A number of technical improvements have been added to Provider Almanac. A new Comparison Cost Report has been added to the software to show upto five years of comparative financial history.
This upgrade was released on March 30, 2008.
The new NPI information will be added to replace the old UPIN information. The NPI information has over 2 million Medicare providers. The physician information will be selected from the NPI information. The Provider Almanac POS information will be updated through December 2007. Minor technical improvements will be included.
This upgrade will be completed by June 15, 2008.
Population Almanac is currently in development. This almanac will contain census, household, current population and Medicare enrollment American Community Survey, Postal delivery statistics, building permits and school enrollement information may be included. There will be summary census information by geography for the 1980, 1990 and 2000 census. There will be current population for the last five years. There will be summary Medicare Enrollment for the last year. There may be information from the American Community Survey. This is the replacement for the census long form used in the last census. There may be summary information for postal delivery households by zipcode. There may be building permit information by county for new houses. There may be school enrollment by school for all public schools. The combination is this information can be used to project population growth and migration. The population can be used to calculate medical resource utilization rates.
This product should be completed by December, 2008.
